Northeast Amateur Invitational Golf Tournament

The Northeast Amateur Invitational just celebrated its 50th year of hosting many of the best amateur players in the world.

The Tournament began in 1962 and was played as a 54 hole event until 1968. The Tournament is an invitational event conducted at stroke play over 72 holes and is limited to 84 players.

Contestants are selected on the basis of their competitive record and accomplishments in major tournaments.

The play is over four days with an 18 hole round each day. There will be cut after 54 holes to low 50 and ties. Play will be in twosomes. There will be an AM-AM tournament held on Tuesday consisting of 32 4-man teams of one contestant and 3 member/sponsors. The 32 contestants will be chosen by the committee. Prizes will be awarded at the Tournament Dinner at conclusion of the play that day.

The course will be open for practice all day Monday and until 12 noon on Tuesday.

Following the end of the final round of play, the winner is awarded a crystal trophy and the traditional Northeast blazer. His name will be added to the permanent Northeast trophy which is displayed in the clubhouse and his photograph is subsequently placed on the Wall of Champions at Wannamoisett Country Club.

The next four finishers are awarded crystal trophies. The low mid-amateur after 72 holes will be awarded the Joseph J. Sprague Award.
