Joseph Bramlett

RUMFORD - Joseph Bramlett, a Saratoga, Cal., native and recent graduate of Stanford University, shot a six-under 270 to win the 49th Northeast Amateur Invitational by two shots.

Bramlett shot rounds of 69-68-66-67 at the par-69 Wannamoisett Country Club. He was a member of the 2007 NCAA champion Cardinal team and played in the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach but considered the win here as his best golf achievement.

“Winning NCAA’s was great but this is my best as an individual,” Bramlett said.

U.S. Public Links champ Brad Benjamin finished in second place with a 4-under total of 272. Mike Ballo, a recent St. John’s graduate, was third at 2-under par. There were only six golfers who finished under par, the others being Sihwan Kim, Hudson Swafford and Andrew Yun, all at 1-under par.
